As you'd expect from a seaside resort like the English Riviera, the fishing opportunities are endless and like thousands before you, you'll soon be hooked. There is unrestricted sea fishing off many of the beaches and headlands on the English Riviera and plenty of tackle shops ready to furnish you with equipment and advice.

There are plenty of tackle shops, fisheries and angling centres and in the area and all details are available from Tourist Information Centres. For more information on Angling on the English Riviera please call 01803 211 211.

www.torbayfishing.com is an excellent local website packed with information that will help everyone from the first time fisherman to the experienced Captain Ahabs amongst you. The site includes a beginner's guide to fishing, a list of all the secret fishing hot spots and even a guide of how to identify your catch. Popular species found around the Bay include bass, flatties, mackerel, bull huss, mullet, dogfish, pollock, garfish and conger.

All three harbours at Torquay, Paignton and Brixham offer a range of Torbay angling trips and, for the keen angler, specialist wreck and shark fishing is available. For the inexperienced, a family mackerel fishing trip is great fun and sure to result in a catch. What could be better than barbecuing the catch of the day with the kids after the end of a perfect day at sea.

Fishing is not only one of the most popular sports in the UK, it's also extremely relaxing and what holidays are all about. From 'crabbing' with the kids to deep sea shark fishing with the men, we have it covered. And even if you return with tales about the 'one that got away,' at least there are plenty of fish and chip shops around the harbour, so you won't go hungry!
